Eek, Alaska

Along the west coast of Alaska, bound between the tundra and the Bering Sea, lies the tiny Yup'ik Eskimo village of Eek, Alaska (pop. 300--give or take). The permafrost may be melting (re: it is), but the school is alive and well (I have engaged in literacy projects with villages throughout this district for several years). Enjoy the photos I took in September of 2007 on my latest visit to the Lower Kuskokwim Delta. This is a delicate, harsh, amazing environment.
