  • Ally, me and Susan--ger mates!
  • These old Russian-style vans were everywhere.  They really said "Mongolia" to me.
  • Near White Lake, there were intricate caves.

  • Volcanic rock was everywhere.  It was as light as a feather, and sharp as glass.
  • This is why it takes so long to drive from place to place in Mongolia.  I think a horse would be faster.
  • This is one of my favorite photos.  Not sure why, but it just is.
  • On our way back east from White Lake, we stopped at another family's ger, and were greeted with the typical Mongolian hospitality.

  • Inside the ger.  Note the cheese drying from the ceiling.
  • Deer stones, found all over Mongolia, are ancient burial markers that date back to the Bronze Age.  Many depict deer, as it was the deer that took your soul to heaven when you died.
