  • I tried to make this photo look kind of old, although if you look closely, you can see the monk on the left on his cell phone. Sorta takes the mystery out of the whole thing, doesn't it?

  • Painting of Chinggis at a little shop near the monastery. The artist must have been quite prolific, because these paintings were everywhere... ;)
  • I thought this was an odd painting to see in the gift shop near the monastery. I wonder if they think this is a quintessentially "Western" image. Or maybe the shop owner's mom made it in the '70s and had nowhere else to put it.
  • This restaurant was one of our most pleasant culinary finds in UB. Saved our life on a couple of occasions. Literally.
