The one thing the Oregon Coast has that Washington doesn't? Sand. And lots of it.

  • Only in the early morning sun do I look this tall.
  • Goodbye, Cannon Beach! I'm sure we'll meet again soon.

  • I so much prefer this view of the ocean to that of the Atlantic (with the exception of Maine). A much more interesting landscape (in my very humble opinion) than just horizon and water (unless that's what you're into, of course).
  • Textbook example of a "drop off."
  • Next stop: Cape Meares Lighthouse.
  • As the shortest lighthouse on the coast, Cape Meares is just plain stubby!
  • The Cape Meares Lighthouse has a beautiful Fresnel lens, imported directly from Paris.

  • I loved the color of the rocks of Cape Lookout. Lots of iron. They even smelled metallic.

  • Rex enjoys a sunset skinny-dip. (It's okay--we were the only ones on the beach.)
